Infest

16 bands, 6 DJs, a mad-cap chap of an MC, two rooms of alternative traders and a couple of thousand other friendly industrial/ebm festival goers, Infest is two and a half days of almost non stop music, entertainment, socialising and shopping!

Jed Phoenix of London will have a pop up shop in the "quiet" room of the market area, and will likely have a few new surprises lined up for you. Come and meet the designer, browse the UK made garments, try on and buy – we accept cash and credit/debit cards. Infest is always an epic event (there's even karaoke!)

A bit of background about Infest

Infest is a darkwave industrial, noise, synthpop and ebm goth music festival held every August at the University of Bradford in the UK. Established in 1998 by a group of students at the university, Infest has had headline alternative goth, electronic and industrial bands such as VNV Nation, Covenant, Front Line Assembly, Suicide Commando and Apoptygma Berzerk, as well as a host of up and coming underground goth, electronic body music and synthpop bands.

All aspects of alternative goth, cyber and darkwave industrial culture and lifestyle under one roof

Infest provides not only a plethora of bands and DJs over three evenings and two days, there is also a market for traders Layout for Infest in Bradford Universityselling alternative clothing, accessories, boots and music. Jed Phoenix has had a pitch at Infest since 2003 and feels very much at home at the event. In 2006, Lab 4 headlined on the Friday night and Jed was delighted to see Adam wearing the pair of bespoke tartan strap trousers she made for him. Fitz from SkinjoB (an ebm goth and industrial band playing Infest in 2008) bought a self tailoring laced jacket from Jed in 2007, and Jay from Deviant UK, a synthpop band with a dark heart (Infest 2005 and 2008) added a military style hat to his wardrobe in 2009.

Infest is weather-proof!

Infest has the advantage over other music festivals held during the British summer because it is held indoors and so isn't affected by the unpredictable weather. The festival attracts visitors from around the world, including a fair few from Canada, and tickets often sell out before the event. The university's student union bar is very reasonably priced, as is the on-site catering serving hot and cold food throughout the day and into the evening. The nearby halls of residence provide affordable accomodation. For those who want bed and breakfast, there are some good hotels in Bradford. Festival goers often return to Infest year after year. It's a major event in the alternative goth, darkwave industrial and ebm social calendar and turns Bradford into a mecca for those who love alternative clothing and underground goth lifestyle.
