Behind the Lens: Jed Phoenix’s First Modular Toy Bag Photoshoot

For those who are long-time fans of Jed Phoenix, you may have noticed a new set of photos appearing on websites and social media. These are the results of a photoshoot back in September where I was able to get action shots of some of the fantastic new products that I've been developing over the past year or so, in particular, the Modular Toy Bags.

I'm a designer and maker first and foremost, and I find organising a photoshoot is a little too much for me for a number of reasons. I think in terms of making not in visual images, so it was a real opportunity when Thom (https://thomlangford.myportfolio.com/) suggested setting up a photoshoot together, after he bought one of the tool wraps and loved it.

It was wonderful to work with someone who had a creative vision and was able to source the venue, the models and set up the shots, leaving me free to do the part I love - sewing. Making 5 outfits and a tool wrap in two weeks was a bit more intense than my usual schedule, but it was worth it for the end results. I had a great time on set working with Bane, Ewan, Ella, and Yasmin, and I'm really happy with the shots.

One of the tough things about being a solo maker is the responsibility that the buck stops with me when it comes to both my brand's reputation and the day-to-day running of it. So it's great to be part of an alternative subculture where we all help each other. I might not wait quite as long before doing the next photoshoot...
